Goldfield & Banks and the Scents of Australia

Australian ingredients and places offer a starting point for discovering Goldfield & Banks, from Pacific Rock Moss to Bohemian Lime.

Goldfield & Banks and the Scents of Australia

Goldfield & Banks gives customers a fairly straightforward way to get to know its perfumes. Each fragrance has a connection to a place or an ingredient.

Founder and creative director Dimitri Weber brought together his background in fragrance development and his interest in Australian botanicals. The house says it has worked with Australian growers and distillers since 2016, with native ingredients forming the basis of its Native Collection.

Pacific Rock Moss was its first formulation. Inspired by Australia's South Coast, it combines Australian coastal moss with lemon, sage and geranium. Cedarwood and white musk appear in the base.

The coastal reference gives someone trying the perfume an idea of what they are about to explore. The composition can then become the subject of the conversation: its citrus, aromatic ingredients and woods, and how they come together.

Bohemian Lime takes its inspiration from Byron Bay. Australian finger lime and coriander lead into vetiver, cedarwood and sandalwood.

These details are helpful because fragrance can be difficult to describe. A customer may know they enjoy something fresh without knowing which ingredients appeal to them. Trying two perfumes with different approaches to freshness can help them work that out.

The Australian setting also gives the collection something people can remember. They might forget a full list of notes, but remember the perfume inspired by the coast or the one built around finger lime.

For a retailer introducing Goldfield & Banks, the ingredients provide a natural place to begin. There is a story to explain, followed by a perfume the customer can try and judge for themselves.
